New iPhone 5 Model with AWS support on 1700 band
We have some good news and we have some bad news. The good news is the iPhone 5 is officially supported on T-Mobile and Apple will create a new modified version of the iPhone 5 to support the 1700 AWS band that T-Mobile uses. This band is what T-Mobile uses for their HSPA+ 42.
So if you already have an officially unlocked iPhone model A1428 or the AT&T version, you will be able to access the 1900 band in certain areas where T-Mobile is refarming. This band only uses HSPA+ 21, so your speeds will be a bit slower. However the old model and the new revised model will both support the same band for LTE.
To recap, if you have the old version of the iPhone 5 you will not be able to take advantage of the highest speeds on the HSPA+ network, but you will still be able to use LTE which is even faster when T-Mobile flips the switch in your town.

After 2 Months, Apple Finally Offers Officially Unlocked iPhone 5′s in the US
It has been over 2 months and finally Apple has finally begun selling officially unlocked iPhone 5′s. This is the GSM model, which is basically the same as the AT&T model, but is factory unlocked and ready to be used worldwide on any GSM network.
Apple’s supply of the iPhone 5 has been strained since the launch and availability has finally dropped down to around 1 week on all iPhone 5 models.
The unlocked iPhone only works on supported GSM networks, such as AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S. When you travel internationally, you can also use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5 from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone 5 will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.
T-Mobile USA subscribers can now get their hands on an iPhone 5 officially unlocked direct from Apple.

Confirmed: Verizon iPhone 5 is UNLOCKED… But Wait…
We have received confirmation that the Verizon iPhone 5 is unlocked. This is great news for Verizon customer’s who are traveling overseas, but not so great news for T-Mobile or AT&T customers. The Verizon iPhone 5 is Model A1429 (CDMA model).
What does that mean for AT&T or T-Mobile users? Well, you will be able to run on the HPSA+ network, but Model A1429 does not support the correct LTE band for AT&T and for T-Mobile when it is available in 2013.
So if your looking for an unlocked iPhone 5 right now, go grab a Verizon model. It is officially unlocked even if purchased with a contract. As of right now we have no clue if the AT&T model or Sprint model are unlocked out of the box. As soon as we have more info we will let you know.
Please be aware that Apple will not be selling officially unlocked iPhone 5′s until sometime this October. Also T-Mobile said they would not have nano sim cards available until mid October.

Apple Selling Unlocked iPhone 4S’s Early. This Is How You can Get It.
Apple released the iPhone 4S on October 14th, 2011 in the US, but only allowed phones to be sold on contract. These phones sold on contract are sold at a discounted price ($199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB) and locked to the specific carrier.
Supposedly Sprint’s iPhone 4S is GSM unlocked buy they are going to lock it down. This has yet to be verified. We are waiting for Alan to give us confirmation. Verizon’s iPhone 4S comes locked but you can request an unlock after you have been in good standing for 60 days. Lastly AT&T’s iPhone 4S comes locked if you purchase it at the subsidized price. If you pay the full retail price which is also a non commitment or no contract iPhone 4S you will receive an officially unlocked iPhone 4S.
The best way to make sure that you get a factory unlocked iPhone 4S before Apple’s official release sometime in November is to follow these steps.
1. Go to the Apple Store and ask for a no contract iPhone 4S. An AT&T model. I told them that it was a gift for my brother and did not want to extend his contract.
2. They will then sell you the iPhone 4S at full retail price ($645 for 16GB, $745 for 32GB, and $845 for 64GB).
3. Before you turn the iPhone 4S on make sure to swap the included AT&T sim card with a different sim. I used T-Mobile USA.
4. Plug the iPhone 4S into your computer and open iTunes 10.5+.
5. Go through the setup without selecting wifi, and click connect to iTunes.
6. iTunes will then go through the setup process and you will get the message Congratulations. Your iPhone is Unlocked.
Here is a video of my process. Sorry there is currently no sound. I will try and re-upload it later.
