So Long MyWi & PDA Net – Personal HotSpot In iOS 4.3

I just updated my Officially Unlocked iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3 Beta 1 and the personal hotspot is included and works perfect!  Now under tethering settings you have the option for Bluetooth tethering, or Wi-Fi and USB.  As you can see I am on T-Mobile USA and it works perfect for me (Except for the fact that T-Mobile is EDGE only).

This is great news! We know that this is one of the main features of iOS 4.3, but what we don’t know is how much extra it will cost.  Official carriers will charge for it for sure. ATT already charges you an arm and a leg for tethering support.  Verizon may offer it for free, but we still have no word on what their pricing plans will be like.

Unofficial carriers like T-Mobile will have this option for FREE.  Hopefully T-Mobile will be an official carrier soon.  I can see the iPhone 5 coming to T-Mobile with 4G support! It is a long wait until June/July, but hopefully T-Mobile USA will get the iPhone earlier.

Jailbreaking your iPhone will most likely enable these features for free in the near future.  We will just have to wait and see.

Wait im confused… the guy behind mywi even said he s not worried about this and they intend on bringing new features

also there was word that the actual hardware in current iphones is able to support creating infrastructure networks (which ps3, xbox, wii can connect to) and all it really needs is just and update of the wifi chip firmware?

Only people who choose to use non-supported carriers believe the iPhone will be on their networks soon.

Verizon may have a non-exclusive agreement but you can be assured that the iPhone in the US won’t be on any other carrier until at least 2014.

This is business boys. The other carriers don’t have the customer base or the data speeds to handle the device the way Apple would like.

Then why did AT&T get slapped with the iPhone when they turned into data hogs and forcing new people to get capped plans?

Why does apple plan on having a Qualcomm chipset that does triple duty as the CDMA / GSM / UMTS baseband processor in the next iPhone instead of only having a GSM-only (for AT&T) and a CDMA-only (for VZW) device?

Since there’s a non-exclusive agreement between either VZW and AT&T Apple might as well bring the iPhone to Sprint and T-Mobile just to be open for a bigger customer base and sales.
