Apple Released iOS17

iOS 17 is now available as a free software update that includes upgrades to your phone with Contact Posters, new sticker experiences, Live Voicemail and more.

You can now customize your Contact Poster so that incoming calls show your personalized picture and name. Here are some other amazing new features:

1. Live Voicemail: Revolutionizing Voicemail Live Voicemail offers real-time transcription of voicemails, allowing you to read messages as they are being left. You can even pick up a call while the caller is leaving a message. Privacy is a priority, as Live Voicemail transcription is handled on-device. Unknown callers are transferred directly to Live Voicemail, and spam calls are instantly declined.

2. FaceTime Gets Expressive: FaceTime now supports video and audio messages, enabling you to share moments even when someone is unavailable. Express yourself with fun Reactions, including hearts, balloons, fireworks, and laser beams. These features are also compatible with third-party video conferencing apps like Zoom and Webex.

3. Messages: Enhanced Connectivity and Customization: Messages receive several updates, including powerful search filters, automatic transcription of audio messages, and a streamlined inline reply feature. Users can also create Live Stickers by extracting subjects from photos, adding creative effects.

4. Check In for Safety: Messages introduce “Check In,” a feature that allows users to notify a contact when they arrive safely at their destination. It shares location and device information securely.

5. StandBy: A New Charging Experience: StandBy provides glanceable information while your iPhone is charging on its side. Personalize it with clock styles, photos, widgets, and more. The Always-On display adapts to low light conditions.

6. Easier Sharing with AirDrop and NameDrop: AirDrop simplifies sharing with the introduction of NameDrop, enabling contact information exchange with a simple gesture. AirDrop transfers will soon continue over the internet when out of range.

7. Autocorrect and Dictation Enhancements: Autocorrect benefits from a new transformer language model for improved word prediction. Inline predictive text aids faster typing. Dictation gets more accurate with a new speech recognition model.

8. Reflect on Life with Journal: The Journal app helps users reflect on everyday moments and special events. It offers personalized suggestions based on recent activity and ensures privacy with on-device processing and encryption.

  • The Health app introduces mental health features, including mood tracking and resources.
