Backup Your Application Data With AppBackup

AppBackup, developed by Scott Zeid, is a Cydia application that lets you backup and restore your application data on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. This includes saved settings, levels, achievements, etc. This is very handy if you are doing an upgrade to a new iOS firmware and want to setup your iDevice as a new device instead of restoring from a backup.
AppBackup DOES NOT back up the apps themselves, just the information they save like settings, game progress, etc.

How To Use AppBackup:

1.  Download it from Cydia and run the application.
2.  Backup individual apps or back them all up.
3.  Once you have backed up all the applications that you want. Use iFile or SSH into your iDevice and SAVE the folder AppBackup located at: /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/AppBackup/ to you computer.
4.  Now you can restore or upgrade your iPhone and set it up as a new device. (setting up your device as a new device will fix battery issues you may be experiencing.)

5.  Download AppBackup from Cydia Again.
6.  Once you have your new device upgraded, put the AppBackup folder that you saved to your computer in the same location: /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/AppBackup/
6.  Launch AppBackup and click restore all.

[UPDATED 2X] iTunes 9.2 Now Available!

Hey guys, if you are anxious for iOS 4 like I am, you are going to need iTunes 9.2. Well, looks like Apple has just launched iTunes 9.2 for the public! You can now download it via Software Update on your Mac, or download it from Apple.com/iTunes if you are on a PC.

You can now update to iOS 4 if you have the leaked beta if you are on Windows XP/Vista/7.

So there you go guys! Just hang on, because Monday is just a few days away!

Here’s the full iTunes 9.2 change log:

iTunes 9.2 comes with several new features and improvements, including:

• Sync with iPhone 4 to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on-the-go

• Sync and read books with iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4 and iBooks 1.1

• Organize and sync PDF documents as books. Read PDFs with iBooks 1.1 on iPad and any iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4

• Organize your apps on your iOS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes

• Faster back-ups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4

• Album artwork improvements make artwork appear more quickly when exploring your library

UPDATE 1: Looks like when you first open iTunes, it makes a new library file, also, it makes thumbnails of your album artwork. The artwork really loads a lot faster with no lag.

Also, it looks like Apple updated the iPhone 3G icon in iTunes. Now, the iPhone is turned on. Still doesn’t show home screen wallpaper. Does anyone with an iPhone 3G S have their icon with home screen wallpaper?

UPDATE 2: Looks like iTunes 9.2 is not Spirit friendly. You are fine if you want to jailbreak with the Pwnage Tool or redsn0w however. If you have already jailbroken your iDevice, you are fine, go ahead and update, however, you can’t rejailbreak with Spirit or jailbreak for the first time if you are on iTunes 9.2.

They are looking into a patch to fix this soon.

It’s Official: Apple Is Now Worth More Than Microsoft & Also World’s Biggest Technology Company!

It’s official everyone! Apple, Inc. is now worth more than Microsoft! This is indeed a surprise. I anticipated this to happen, but not this soon. I expected this to happen in late-2010, but it looks like it’s that time.

Now, granted, it wasn’t so much Apple going up dramatically in value these lasts 60 days or so, it’s Microsoft that is tanking. Apple rose $10 Billion while Microsoft tanked with losses in over $40 Billion.

Now, this moment could last for a long time, maybe for good but, the margin is so small that anything could happen starting tomorrow morning. However, this comes to us as Apple flew past Walmart to take #3 and race to the top just a few weeks ago.

Right now, Apple’s valued at $222.12 Billion and Microsoft at $219.18 billion. The only American company valued higher is Exxon Mobil, with a market capitalization of $278.64 billion.

Apple is sure to take the #1 spot by 2011. Morgan Stanley predicts that Apple stock will reach over $310 a share by the end of fiscal year 2010!

This is amazing considering that Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy in the 1990s when Apple was without Steve Jobs. Apple has gone up while Microsoft has tanked. They are worth 1/2 of what they were worth in 2000, while Apple is many times bigger.

Steve Jobs has brought Apple from the ashes by creating the world’s bees music player, the world’s best computers, the world’s best mobile phone, and now, the world’s best tablet.

The fight has turned away from Apple vs. Microsoft, and is now heading for an Apple vs. Google fight. This is a fight for the future of technology. Apple wants apps and a marriage of hardware and software, while and Google wants everything in the cloud and on the web.

Here’s a fight that may involve Apple and Microsoft to start working together very closely to fight off Google, because regardless of how underwhelming Android is, it’s proving to be a real nuisance and Google is going to be a very worthy competitor.

Apple has the lead, but they have to really keep innovating or Google’s going to turn the tables on them like Microsoft took over the commuting industry and left Apple with a measly 6% market share.

What a journey. Congratulations Steve. I’m betting we’ll hear about this at WWDC and a big crowd cheering and laughing at Microsoft.

All I can say is, unless Microsoft can pull something amazing off, I have to say the following:

Microsoft is dead.
