iPhones Get Earthquake Alarms With iOS 5
iOS 5 has a great new featured embedded into the OS which will help provide an early alert for earthquakes in Japan. I am sure this technology will be useful in other countries as well, but we are unsure if it will be implement. Hopefully it takes advantage of the GPS radio and alerts you if you are within range of a possible earthquake.
This is some exciting new technology and lets hope Apple and other cell phone manufactures incorporate other warning systems into their phones that will alert the public of possible disasters.

HP Announces The Death Of WebOS; Victory For iOS & Android
Well, this is some pretty shocking news. HP has announced that it is going to kill off any and all webOS phones & tablets from here on in. As you may remember, HP purchased Palm because of it’s webOS technologies and it seems like their ROI (return on investment) is not as high as they thought it would be.
HP has said, in it’s conference call, that they are actively seeking a 3rd party to dump, I mean, unload webOS onto.
I always thought webOS was a very good and original operating system. The only issue that I ever saw with it was the hardware it was forced to be placed in. With iPhone 3G-like speeds, it wasn’t going to make any shockwaves, especially in the midst of the iPhone 3G S & iPhone 4.
Then came the tablet, it looked like webOS was built for the tablet, like iOS was for the iPad. However, the hardware that resembled that of an iPhone 3G’d iPad didn’t help it’s cause. Sales were so bad that Best Buy asked HP to have them buy back their 200,000 unsold tablets just a few days ago.
So, from all of us at LEI Mobile, RIP webOS. We hardly knew ye.

BREAKING: iOS 5 Beta 6 To Be Released On August 18th
We have received word that iOS 5 beta 6 will be arriving on Thursday, August 18th. Now, we had projected iOS 5 beta 6 to be released on August 19th, but it appears that a file was discovered in iOS that details when the next beta of iOS 5 will arrive. According to the finders, they discovered this in iOS 5 beta 4 and it predicted the (unexpected) Saturday release of iOS 5 beta 5.
If Apple really is detailing plans of the next version of iOS 5 betas, then could it be possible that we get a leaked date for iOS 5 GM? Probably not. Apple will probably encrypt this file and place it in a database in time iOS 5 beta 6 (still a week to go), or at least before the last beta is released.
Apple is big on secrecy, which is why this discovery is odd in itself, but if Apple does indeed release this next Thursday, then we may all have a new source we can rely on for iOS 5 beta news.

Rumor: Apple Board Of Directors Looking For CEO Successor
What do we have here? Multiple reports are suggesting that Apple’s board of directors is actively looking for a successor to the CEO of Apple, which is currently held by, Steve Jobs.
Now, this could be a sabotage move by another company, as has been seen in the past, since Apple’s quarterly earnings were released today (more on that soon). Spoiler alert, Apple completely dominated this quarter.
We await comment from Apple on the legitimacy of these claims.
Now, I don’t want to believe it, but it may be true. Steve Jobs is Apple’s most important asset and he is believed to be the main cause of Apple’s ascension in the last 10 years.
More information as we get it…
