Review: SalesVu – A Super Easy Way To Accept Credit Cards On The iPhone

SalesVu is a FREE application for the iPhone / iPod Touch and iPad that allows you to accept credit cards anywhere, as long as you are in the United States or Canada.

SalesVu’s pricing for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover is a flat rate of 2.7%. American Express is 2.89%. Rates for Canada vary based on the business. Every approved SalesVu member gets a free credit card reader, but if you need more than one you are going to have to fork over $99 for each additional credit card reader. You can also take manual charges at any time. Other fees you may encounter would be a monthly charge that varies depending on how much your total credit card charges are. The range is from $0-$20. This is still pretty cheap!

SalesVu’s largest competitor is Square. Square may be a brand that more people have heard of but SalesVu is quickly rising mainly due to the competitive advantages that they offer, especially in pricing! Check out the comparison chart:

[Update] AppStore Broken for iOS 3.X users?

[Update] This issue appears to have been resolved, and even without having to restore in iTunes.

Well this comes as a bit of a shock. It would appear that many users who are still on iOS 3.1.3 aren’t able to access the AppStore from their devices. A Discussion thread has been growing steadily over on Apple’s Discussion Forums on the matter so we’ll keep you up to date on if this gets resolved. For right now if you are on 3.x your only real way to manage apps is straight from iTunes I fear.

Problems faced by users at this time:
1) The price button no longer works
2) Ratings button no longer works
3) “Tell a Friend” and “Gift App” just jump to the top of the window
4) Images don’t load at all
5) Top In-App Purchases is just text now

Today’s Mac OS X Lion release is actually older than the Developer GM seed

Today’s Mac OS X Lion release is actually an older build  than the Developer GM seed. Mac OS X Lion was officially released to the public on July 20th 2011. Apple requires you to download their latest software operating system through their Mac AppStore.  You will notice that the build number is 11A494 and that the GM build number that was released to developers is 11A511.

Why is it that developers received a higher build number? If you try to download the RTM (Release To Market) build from the Mac AppStore while you are running the developer GM build you will get the error message: “Install Mac OS X lion 1.0.4 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy OS X Lion 10.7?”

I imagine Apple wants developers to purchase the final version and to do a fresh clean install from their Snow Leopard machine.  As soon as we have information as to how developers can upgrade from Lion GM to the final build we will let you know.

Interesting note: If you look in the package for the developer GM release, at the info.plist file, you’ll see the following version number:  11A494

Send Fake Text Messages With SpoofTexting For iPhone

We have all seen the spoof dialing program where you can prank someone by using any number you want. You call up the spoofing service and they reroute your call so it looks as though you are calling from a different number.  This is always a funny prank to pull on people. You could even change your voice with the built in voice changer.

Now the creators of SpoofCard have also created SpoofTexting where you can fake your text messaging number. Wouldn’t it be funny to message your friend using his girlfriend’s phone number and tell him she is pregnant? Well now  you can. SpoofTexting allows you to send text messages to anyone in the USA from any phone number you want. You can actually specify what number you want the message to appear from! The person receiving the message will not be able to distinguish if the message is really coming from that phone number, or from you spoofing the number. SpoofTexting is an application that you can download on Cydia (must be jailbroken as Apple obviously would not allow this in the AppStore).

SpoofTexting is the only app that can send messages to every wireless provider in the USA, including Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Try SpoofCard for FREE! If you visit the Spooftexting website you can earn free credits to try out the service. Inside the application you can purchase additional credits starting at $4.99 for 10 messages.
