Apple Releases New Macs & Thunderbolt Display
Hey guys, well, today, Apple released a whole lot of products, and we have a round-up of all of the hardware related articles from today, along with a part of the article that I’m referencing.

LEAK: Mac OS X Lion To Be Released Tomorrow [CONFIRMED]
[UPDATE] During Apple’s quarterly earnings call, they confirmed that Mac OS X Lion will be arriving tomorrow as we had reported this morning!
We’ve been getting reports and tips about Apple’s latest operating system, Mac OS X Lion. It seems as though tomorrow will finally be the day that Lion debuts to the general public. After many developer seeds, it seems as though Apple is ready to unleash the beast.
Apple has been very quiet about a launch date and just stating “July 2011″.
We also have information saying that Apple has already delivered hard drives containing the GM seed of Lion to 3rd party retailers and Apple Stores have already downloaded the OS and are preparing to load it onto their Macs tonight.
Some 3rd party retailers have already posted advertisements for Lion in their stores, ahead of launch.

Apple Updates AirPort Extreme & Time Capsule
Looks like Apple has released an updated AirPort Extreme & Time Capsule on their online pages. Now, the only new features that are listed for the Time Capsule are that they start at 2TB at $299 and a new 3TB configuration at just $399, also, Apple says that they now back up up to 75% faster than ever before! Wow!
I believe that Apple will release a software update for the Time Capsule in the Fall that will allow for the rumored iOS update cache and the “direct backup” from iOS 5 devices!
As for the AirPort Extreme, no changes are listed but it does say that it is “new”. Pricing for the AirPort Extreme has stayed at $179.

Well, the big mystery of what Apple is doing has been leaked by one of the employees. It seems as though Apple is revamping the retail experience (yet again) by adding a 9.7 inch multi-touch display that lets you go in-depth on the products Apple is selling. I’m, of course, speaking about iPad 2s!
There is an iPad at every station and this is basically a console that customers will be able to use to display product prices & information for products, product features, prices, lets you compare between models, and you can even use the iPad to ask a specialist to come to you!
Apple has created some interesting iPad 2s however, they aren’t normal iPad 2s, it seems as though they aren’t connected by dock connector, but by a cord running through the back of the units, and the home button is rendered useless (multitasking gestures anyone?)

Apple’s 10th Anniversary Big Announcement
Rumors are flying that Apple is planning on announcing something ahead of WWDC. According to many sources, there are some “training” events being planned for Sunday May 22 at retail stores. Some stores are reporting the training to be at 7am while there are others planned for the evening. Whichever it is, Apple is gearing up for something. BGR is reporting these stipulations on the plans:
- There’s an overnight shift planned for around 10-15 individuals at each Apple Store to work from late Saturday all the way through mid-Sunday.
- During the overnight shift, it’s going to be required that employees lock cell phones in the main office. They will also have to sign an NDA with Apple.
- There are a wide variety of roles, we’re told, for the overnight shift. This includes all visuals staff, a manager, a business team member, a few Genius team members, one back-of-house employee, and a few generic Apple specialists.
- Apple stores have apparently already received hardware to install, and are expecting more hardware to come on Friday or Saturday. All materials that Apple stores have received have been instructed to be under lock and key until after close on Saturday night.
- Apple employees will be putting up black curtains at all stores so that people walking outside cannot see inside.
- Employees have had to download gigabytes of data from Apple corporate labeled, “training” in a password-protected zipped folder that won’t accessible to managers or anyone else until Saturday afternoon.
- Lastly, all Apple retail stores have mandatory meetings on Sunday, May 22nd. Most meeting are scheduled for the morning, but there are evening meetings as well.
