T-Mobile iPhone MMS Settings For iOS 4

Earn a Free iPhone 4S. Click Here!

Many people have been asking for the MMS settings to use for T-Mobile.  This will work on all versions of the iPhone and any firmware.  Whenever you restore your iPhone you lose the settings and since T-Mobile is not an official carrier in the US yet, you will have to manually enter these settings in.

UPDATE: Please add our Cydia repo to find the iPhone MMS Fix for T-Mobile.
Our Repo is  http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/

To install our repository you will open up Cydia. Click on Manage at the bottom. Click On Edit in the top right. Click Add in the top left. Type http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/ and then press Add Source.  Then Click on the LEIMobile source and install T-Mobile MMS Fix.

Once you install the fix you will need to reboot your phone and go into Settings->General->Network-> Cellular Data Network and make sure the APN is correct for both your data APN and your MMS APN. All other settings as seen in the picture to the right should be filled in.

———————————–

You will not have to do anything below if you followed the instructions above.

Our Tmobile MMS fix from our repo will support all iOS 4 firmwares: 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1, 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3 and will most likely work in all other iOS firmwares.  In order for MMS to work on non approved carriers you will have to jailbreak.

If the above fails, go to: Settings->General->Network->Cellular Data Network and enter these settings:

APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username:
Password:
MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
MMS Max Message Size:
MMS UA Prof URL:

Once you are done just reboot your iPhone and MMS should be working.  If they are not working correctly try these settings:

APN: epc.tmobile.com
Username:
Password:
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng-t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
MMS Max Message Size:
MMS UA Prof URL:

Reboot again and MMS should be working on your iPhone.

THESE SETTINGS SEEM TO WORK IF YOU HAVE JAILBROKEN YOUR IPHONE. This is the manual way of applying the settings. You only need to do this if our Cydia repo is not working.

Navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mms_override.plist on your iPhone and edit the file by pasting whats below.  You can download a program like ifile from cydia to do this.

<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC “-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN” “http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd”>
<plist version=”1.0″>
<dict>
<key>MMS</key>
<dict>
<key>GroupModeEnabled</key>
<false/>
<key>MMSC</key>
<string>http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc</string>
<key>MaxMessageSize</key>
<integer>1048576</integer>
<key>MaxRecipients</key>
<integer>10</integer>
<key>MaxVideoBitrate</key>
<integer>131072</integer>
<key>Proxy</key>
<string>216.155.165.50:8080</string>
<key>UAProf</key>
<string>http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf</string>
<key>UserAgent</key>
<string>SonyEricssonW800i/R1L</string>
</dict>
</dict>
</plist>

After that reboot your phone, enter the correct APN settings, and everything should work.

  3. Anita says

    I have a new question here. Now I’m receiving and sending mms just fine, but my Cydia crashes all the time. I didn’t install anything else recently but this. Could it be possible it’s bc of this change? Thanks!

      • Javier says

        I did everything right but when I try to send something it says I have to enable my data plan. Which I don’t have cuz I don’t have Internet on my phone. How do I make it work with out it???

  4. Fawn says

    I downloaded the fix from cydia, removed the sim, rebooted, and yet when i got into cellular date it still just shows on off not the options to enter all the settings. any help?

    • vievid says

      I had the same problem. I posted below, should try it out. Make sure your APN fields match in both the Cellular Data and MMS.

      • Chen says

        Thank you, but the 3g is still disable,I try all of apn. Maybe it is because my plan used to be the blackberry network, I have no idea. After all, thanks very much

  5. klvaleri says

    Hi Guys,

    I got mine to work on sending and receiving text pictures but when I tried to fix my daughter’s phone (3G) the same as mine firmware 4.1 base band 6.15, but I can’t get it to work. I did everything the same. But I noticed that when I installed leimobile from cydia, it failed on the last couple lines I don’t know what that was then I entered it manually. It still didn’t work either. What did I do wrong? I need your help guys please.

    http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/

    I entered these manually:

    Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network
    Cellular Data
    APN -> epc.tmobile.com
    Username ->
    Password ->
    MMS
    APN -> epc.tmobile.com
    Username ->
    Password ->
    If you followed all the steps the rest of the fields should be already defined;
    they will look exactly like this:
    MMSC -> http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMS Proxy -> 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS Max Message Size -> 10485760
    MMS UA Prof URL -> http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

    Thanks so much

  6. vievid says

    Ok, here’s how I got mine to work after trying EVERYTHING listed on the internet. Leimobile, sinfuliphonerepo, iFile (and the whole cut & paste thing), and none worked.

    My problem was that I couldn’t send MMS but I could receive, and when I DID receive it would be like 1 day later. Sometimes coming in multiple times. Then I followed some instructions on the internet and somehow managed to be able to send MMS, but I couldn’t use my internet anymore. SO–

    This sounds a lot more obvious than I thought…. I figured it all depends on the internet data plan you have. That’s why certain posted settings don’t work for many people.

    I don’t use epc.tmobile.com for either APN fields. I use internet2.voicestream.com for the APN in Cellular Data and MMS.

    Steps:

    1. Go to Cydia
    2. Manage > Sources
    3. Add source: http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/
    4. After your add is complete, go into the source and install “T-Mobile US MMS Fix ” (reboot)
    5. Go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data
    6. Enter this information in:

    Cellular Data
    APN: internet2.voicestream.com
    Username: (leave empty)
    Password: (leave empty)

    MMS
    APN: internet2.voicestream.com (or whatever you have; epc.tmobile.com or wap.voicestream.com. Just MAKE SURE it’s the same APN as the one you have on top under Cellular Data)
    MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
    MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

      so i did all of that and it still doesnt work 🙁 i dont know what to do anymore. help guys.

      i have iphone 3gs version 4.1 and it was jailbroken

    • Kay says

      Thanks Vievid!
      This has worked for me after I have tried so many different other options.
      I have the 4.2.1 Version on a 3GS.

      I ended up using the epc.tmobile.com for the APN in the Cellular Data and MMS, but the problem for me was I downloaded T-mobile MMS fix for IOS4 previously. When I tried to download T-Mobile MMS Fix, it would not complete because of the T-mobile US MMS fix for IOS4. I had to remove the installation of T-mobile US MMS fix for IOS4 first and then download T-mobile MMS Fix.

      It worked afterwards! Yay! =D

    • Brooke says

      I downloaded the source and it worked too. Finally something from 2011. I kept finding posts and blogs from 2009… Nothing was accurate!!

    • Minnesota Boy says

      Thank you Vievid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am soooo happy now! It works! It’s a miracle!

    • Ed Rozhik says

      I did all of this and it still doesn’t work…It comes up with an error and doesn’t wanna send…any help?

    • Julia says

      I tried to do this and it didnt work for me…Is it because i have gevey sim? if so does anyone have an idea how to do it on iphone 4 ios 4.3.3 jailbroken phone with gevey sim?!!??

    • iowagirl says

      this seems to have worked a month ago, but now there are more updates and blocks I’m assuming that are preventing it from working again. 🙁

      • iowagirl says

        Nevermind! I shut my phone off, waited about 5 minutes, turned it back on and it appears to be working. It just takes several minutes for them to come through or for me to send. But that’s better than nothing!! Thanks Vievid!!!!

  7. Kaylee says

    I followed your steps and added the Leimobile, but I couldn’t find the “T-Mobile US MMS Fix ” instead I had the option of “T-Mobile MMS Fix” and when I tried to install that, it wouldn’t install, it kept getting some sort of an error … help please 🙁

  11. Shay says

    Hi 🙂
    I have an iphone 4 unlock with TMobile and is running under 4.0.2 & 01.59.00. I’m not able to send out pic mms or get them, I did the above steps and still not working. Help please. My E-internet is working fine. Is it because I downloaded APN Changer with unlockit.co.nz for my internet?

  12. Hash says

    Ok, I figured out how to do it..

    I was getting that red exclamation mark too

    First, make sure your cellular data is on! They wont charge you because your just using the MMS which is normally free with unlimited texting plans

    Then do what viveid said, put in all that same information exactly

    Now after I did his steps, i could send pics but i couldnt recieve any

    So what I did was followed the steps

    Reboot your phone and you should be able to send/recieve pics

    I have tmobile, no data plan, running 4.3.3 at 6.15.00 3gs

    Hope that helps!

    • Jr says

      Is your data roaming on ?…

          I have tried all 3 APNs and no luck…. I on 4.1 baseband 2.10.4 using gevey turbo sim on tmobile…. When I try to send mms the red exclamation pops up and asks for me to turn on data roaming…. I dont have a data plan either …. Any assistance is greatly appreciated …

  13. Brian says

    Just FYI, if you are wondering how to “Paste” the text string on the program ifile, like I was… this is how I did it.

    -Downloaded ifile from Cydia
    -then connect iphone to itunes
    -then I opened Microsoft Outlook and created a “Note” and saved it to My Documents as “mms”.
    -then I went into itunes and clicked on (I think) Items and then clicked the option to sync Outlook, and then checked to sync notes (down below).
    -clicked sync
    -then I went into the Notes on my iPhone 4, and opened the note.
    -then I touched in the middle of the note and then held down until I got “select all”, and then “copy”.
    -then I went into ifile and followed the address mentioned above until I got to the file.
    -then checked “edit” and then “select all” and then “paste”.
    -Save
    -Reboot and done. MMS working both sending and receiving!
    Thanks LEI MOBILE for your awesome fix!

    • Brian says

      *EDIT*
      HERE IS SOME CLERIFICATION TO MY TEXT:

      -then I opened Microsoft Outlook and created a “Note”, inside the note I pasted the text string from above (the one for jailbroken phones), and then saved it to My Documents as “mms”.

      WARNING
      -then I went into itunes and clicked on (I think) Items and then clicked the option to sync Outlook, and then checked to sync notes (down below).
      -clicked sync

    Im willing to donate if you can fix whats going on with my phone. ok so i have a iphone 4 4.3.3 with pwntool newist untetherd and i have a gevey SIM is all else fails. going for T-mobile iv spent like 12hrs doing anything that might work and i still either get no service or the 1 bar. on cydia iv got to all your stuff i finnaly got the Simple Movile MMS Fix to work but i can’t get the T-mobile one to work when i try to install it(t-mobilefix) i get a red X saying trying to overwrite ‘/var/mobile/Library/preferences/com.apple.mms_override.plist’, Which is also in package come.leimobile.simplemms
    Other Red X- sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) so if you could help me out id be super stoke to get this finally working

  20. MMM says

    does not work for me.

    iPhone 4 running 4.3.3 on T-Mobile. I got installed these: Carrier Reset fix, i4MMS, T-Mobile MMS fix, and ultrasn0w 1.1

    anyways, I dont have internet plan on my phone, just got unlimited MMS and SMS, yet the MMS doesn’t work while the SMS work fine.

    when I try to send MMS, the progress bar gets stuck at about 95% every time I try. Then, does not send the MMS, and does not receive MMS. I’ve talked with T-Mobile today and they said on their side everything is set for MMS transfers … yet I cant use it.

    I have three phones on my plan – Nokia E51, BlackBarry Perl, and iPhone 4. The MMS work on the nokia and the blackberry, yet doesnt work on the iPhone 🙁

    I’ve tried to install/uninstall some of the packages, but I’d loose the Cellural Data Network tab.

    what I was able to get from my Nokia as it got automatically configured: the wap.voicestream.com is the MMS service, while the internet2.voicestream.com is the T-Mobile internet that requires data plan.

    none of the above suggestions work 🙁

  21. MMM says

    LOL, I got it to work.

    apparently you NEED to have your own phone number written in Settings -> phone ….. LOL, and I didn’t have mine there. Now works with these settings:

    APN: wap.voicestream.com
    Username:
    Password:
    MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
    MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

    … the only problem left is that when receiving picture messages I dont get these because it says: “The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction”, the message itself arrives 😐

    increasing MMS Max Message Size didn’t help.

    any ideas ?

  22. phong says

    try to leave it blank
    last time i called tmobile for the setting
    all they gave me were apn and mmsc and all blank on others

  23. jdm_is250 says

    Use WinSCP (download below) and SSH into phone
    Navigate to “/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/” (copy the mms file from below over)
    Now on the phone go to “Setting–> General –> Network –> Cellular Data Network”, and make sure the settings looks like below:
    **NOTE** if you dont have Cellular Data Network, install T-Mobile MMS fix from cydia (sinful repo source)

    Cellular data
    APN wap.voicestream.com

    MMS
    APN wap.voicestream.com
    MMSC http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMS Proxy 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS Max Message Size 1048576
    MMS UA Prof URL http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

    If your APN are empty or say something different, fix them <--important. And of course the username and password stay empty. Winscp: http://tinyurl.com/4x4rqgy
    MMS file: http://tinyurl.com/3egsujw

  24. Diego says

    There are various MMS fixes under your repo.

    There is i4MMS, T-Mobile MMS Fix and a couple of others. i4MMs description says its t-mobile USA iOS 4.2.1 carrier bundle.

    Which one do I need to install. Because T-Mobile MMS fix is not working for me with any of the above settings.

  25. cactus_sonora says

    Great !! I followed the instructions for

    APN: wap.voicestream.com
    Username:
    Password:
    MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
    MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS Max Message Size:
    MMS UA Prof URL:
    Once you are done just reboot your iPhone and MMS should be working.

  26. Diana says

    Hi! When I access my network to change the cellular data there is only an option of the on/off toggle. I also tried to download the carrier reset fix and it still does not work. Is there anyway I can get it to work so i can edit my cellular data information?
    Thanks in advance.

      • Diana says

        YES! i ejected the sim card right after the carrier reset fix is downloaded and right before i hit the return to cydia button. I’ve done it a couple of times and still no luck. I also rebooted the device to see if it works and it still doesnt.

  27. MMM says

    how come when I put the APN on the Cellural Data, my regular text (SMS) stops working ?!?!

    I FOUND SOMEWHAT OF A SOLUTION TO SOME PROBLEMS! I RUN 4.0 ON THE 3GS AND I DON’T HAVE A DATA PLAN, SO MY CELLULAR DATA WAS TURNED OFF. TURN IT ON AND USE VEIVID’S SOLUTION AND IT WILL WORK I GUARANTEE IT

  29. preston says

    everybody who is having a problem with MMS needs to see vievid’s comment. The key is using the same server in both APN fields. I used epc.tmobile.com and the rest went like this:

    MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
    MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
    MMS UA Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

    first I followed the instructions to install the T-Mobile MMS Fix. I am now able to send and receive MMS. I’m using an unlocked iphone 3g 4.1 (8b117) FW 6.15.0.

  30. Harris says

    im able to send pictures with the fix, but im not able to recieve..i keep getting the message that the picture is to big..now i didnt put the size in maunally do you think that is the problem?

  31. Adden says

    Hello, it seems since I have installed T-Mobile MMS Fix from your repo, everytime in the messages app if I hit the new message button (the little pen and paper) if I type in a contact name nothing appears and the mms icon is greyed out and the send button doesn’t work. I tried re-installing and nothing. I can still continue old conversations but it’s a pain to search for it. Any solution? I’m glad MMS works though 🙂
