Unconfirmed: iOS 4.3 To Be Released On Valentine’s Day?
Hey guys, some rumors have been hitting the blogosphere in the last hour or so and people are claiming that iOS 4.3 will be released to the public on Valentine’s Day (February 14th). Now, we can not, at this time, confirm nor deny the reports as we haven’t had any concrete information sent to us yet.
However, if this is to be believed, we should see iOS 4.3 hit GM next week for us developers.
Usually, Apple gives us a week to prepare our apps with the GM, so this would make sense.
iOS 4.3 GM is said to have the AirPlay functionality for 3rd party apps, the mobile hotspot feature, as well as Apple’s new in-app subscription service for iOS magazines and newspapers.
More to come…

Apple & Verizon Announce Service Plan Pricing For iPhone
Hey guys, back on January 11th, Apple and Verizon said that they would be waiting to announce plan pricing on the iPhone, and today, however brief a time it may have been, we saw the pricing of their plans.
Individual voice plans begin at $39.99 per month for 450 minutes, with 900 minutes available for $59.99 and Nationwide Unlimited checking in at $69.99. Family SharePlans begin at $69.99 for 700 minutes, with 1400 minutes ($89.99), 2000 minutes ($99.99) and unlimited ($119.99) also available.
Messaging options check in at $5 (250 messages), $10 (500 messages), and $20 (unlimited messages). Customers can also decline to add a messaging and plan and simply be billed at a per-message rate of 20 cents text and 25 cents per picture/video message. Family SharePlan messaging options include the same pay per use, $5, and $10 plans as on the individual track, but the $20 messaging plan includes 5000 messages for family talk customers with an additional $30 plan offering unlimited shared messages across devices on the plan.
As for data, as we reported earlier, you will only be able to get an unlimited data plan for $30 a month, but the hotspot feature will cost you an extra $20 for 2GB of data for tethering, or $20 after every additional gigabyte that you use for tethering.
To clarify, if you get tethering, you don’t get knocked down to 2GB data entirely, you still get your unlimited data, but tethering-only data is only 2GB.
So there you go guys!

Hey guys, well yesterday was a crazy day filled with Verizon goodness and a redesigned antenna to fix antennagate & work on CDMA.
However, we would like to announce a fix of our own. Today, I got a few emails regarding a bug that affects users who have Push Notifications enabled.
The bug is that the badge does not go away no matter what you do if the application is being multi-tasked. It’s a minor bug but it can be very annoying if you are OCD like I am.
Users noticed the bug yesterday after the 10 Verizon iPhone articles hit our site.
Now, it has been partially my fault that this bug exists. A few weeks ago, Brandon alerted me of this bug and I didn’t really pay attention to him or his bug report, so I gave the go ahead to ship the final product with this bug still intact. However, yesterday, I discovered this bug on my own iPhone and I quickly contacted Brandon to verify that this was the bug he was referring to.
We have a fix and we will submit an update to LEI Mobile 5 to Apple later today.
So I appologize for the relatively minor bug, but it was my fault for ignoring Brandon’s bug report and giving the go ahead for the product to ship without the propper patches in place.

Hey guys, we have been getting some more information and it looks like the Verizon iPhone is running iOS 4.2.5 and contradicting our own reports, it appears that “Mobile HotSpot” is actually built into the Settings application.
Now, we had previously said that the Verizon iPhone was actually going to require a download from the App Store, but it appears that this is not the case.
So there you go guys!
