Review: iColorType for iPad

icolortype

iColorType, developed by KeyRight, is the perfect teaching tool to help you learn the basic fundamentals of typing as well as increasing your overall typing sped. icolorType is similar to other typing trainers, but steps it up a notch by color coding the letters so that you can celary identify which fingers should be used for which keys.

Transitioning from typing on a typewriter/physical keyboard, typing on a touch screen can be very difficult for a lot of people, especially if they do not have the basic fundamentals. Some people can naturally type at a decent speed on the iPad, but others struggle and prefer to use a bluetooth keyboard. Luckily for those people they can still use their bluetooth keyboard and this application to increase their overall typing speed and accuracy.

iColorType uses the look and learn method that will help you develop the correct motor skills, muscle memory and hand-eye coordination so that you can type faster and more accurate. When you first open the app you will asked to take a 1 minute assessment to see how fast and accurate you currently type. Once done it will save your progress so you can see how much you have improved while using this applicaiton.

There are 11 main lessons and each lesson has multiple mini lessons. When you launch a lesson you will be given very detailed information of what your goals are and what everything on the screen does. The first few lessons will start out easy and get more difficult as you progress. You will start out just typing random words and in the end you will be typing full sentences. The key to fast and accurate typing is practice, practice, practice, and that is exactly what iColorType for iPad is trying to help you do.

iColorType is currently priced at $2.99 on the Apple App Store. If you are struggling with typing on the iPad or just want to improve your typing speed, you should definitely check this app out. It is extremely helpful.
