Review: BeforeNow – Personal Timeline Creator and Journal for iPad

BeforeNow – Personal Timeline Creator and Journal, developed by BEFORENOW, LLC, is a personal timeline creator to help you catalog your life events in a visual timeline.

With the BeforeNow app you can create a personal timeline to track your children, track medical conditions, your life in general, or just about anything. Your files are saved on your iPad and not shared with social media unless you want to. You can export a PDF of the events if you choose to do so.

I just had a baby and wanted a way to document important events in his life that I could show him when he was older. This application seemed to be the best fit and best of all it is FREE!

When you first launch the application you will be presented with a neat and easy to use canvas. At the top you will see the individual days of the month and at the bottom you will see the years. You can go back in time and enter your life events and can even plan events up to 20 years in the future.

When you add an event there is a handful of default tracks available like car, pet, vacation, education, and employment. If you want to create your own you can simply do that as well. If you choose Vacation for example you will be asked to fill in a bunch of information like where you went? what times? pictures? who you went with? and other general information. You can even display a map and rate the vacation so that when you look back you can see how much fun you had and if it is worth going back.

BeforeNow is completely different that other timeline software which are usually based on milestones. With BeforeNow you can see all events from start to finish and see where there are overlapping events in your life. It is very easy to use and is an excellent application for anyone who wants to easily store a timeline of events and/or document important information. It is a FREE application on the Apple AppStore, but is easily worth a price of $4.99 if the developers decided to charge for it.

The only downfall is that all of your data is stored on your iPad. You need to make sure you are backing up your iPad so you do not lose all of the data. It would be nice if you could integrate with Dropbox or iCloud to save a copy if you decide to. Other than that I give this application 3 out for 4 stars.
