Opera Mini Now #1 Free App In All 22 Countries!

Well isn’t this a huge shock! Opera Mini is now the #1 free app in 22 countries (AKA, all of Apple’s App Store divisions).

Now, I will be writing a full “hands-on” review of Opera Mini soon, but you guys probably already have it. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you haven’t grabbed Opera Mini, do so now! It really is the fastest browser on the iPhone! We all couldn’t believe it when the news hit our tipline. Honestly, I didn’t believe it myself, I said “if Apple does approve it, I need to get it the second its out because I think Apple may pull it”. Well, I was wrong.

Apple really doesn’t want to pull Opera Mini. They will create a total sh*t storm if they do. It will come back to haunt them with all kinds of bad press and bad PR.

Well, that’s all for now guys. ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you notice that when you surf with Opera Mini you actually surf with a different IP than with Safari? It seems to me that you are connected via an Opera Proxy. Maybe this is the reason why it is approved by Apple. It is not really a browser replacement. It is an app which just connects to its own servers. This is what many apps do, so Apple has to approve it.

Ben this is why opera is so much faster.Your request is sent to the opera servers who process the page for you and then send it back to you.

I know, i just wanted to point out that the proxy technique is the reason why Opera Mini doesnt violate Apples terms. It isnt really a browser replacement. There are many apps which connect to their own servers. What these servers do is another question. In this case, they connect you to all web pages you want to access. So that makes Opera look and feel like a regular browser but in Apples eyes its just an app that connects you to the Opera servers and not directly to a web page. And this is why they don’t reject it. But this is just my opinion and i might be wrong though. ๐Ÿ™‚

I do have a quick question, and forgive me or asking, because this is not the place. How do you erase a “speed dial” do I may input a different one? For example, deleting the New York Times and replace it with another book mark.

Ben: well. Actually, there was more to it. Aple and Opera have actually been in secret negociations for the past few months. So it wasn’t something that happened overnight, approval wise.

Ahhhhh. Now why didn’t I think of that? Ugh. Well many thanks to you, Alan. I was two seconds from uninstalling opera mini! ๐Ÿ™‚ This web-browser rocx!!!
