European Telecoms Want Apple & Google To Pay For Their Data Network

Hey guys, wow have these times have been pretty strange. They are about to get a lot weirder.

Looks like Telecoms want Apple and Google to pay them for the data we’re using. They say that it’s their fault for making phones that are data-intensive.

This is the biggest load of garbage that I’ve heard in a long time. Telecoms make billions of dollars every quarter and only use a small amount to upgrade their networks.

They should be happy that we love these new “super smartphones” (quoted by Steve Jobs) and are going on their networks at such a huge rate.

Be assured that if they get their way, prices of phones will skyrocket and we STILL won’t get unlimited plans, AND ON TOP OF THAT, we will have to pay the same per month.

Here’s what Bloomberg had to say:

As mobile and Web companies add videos, music and games, operators including France Telecom SA, Telecom Italia SpA and Vodafone Group Plc want a new deal that would require content providers like Apple and Google to pay fees linked to usage.

“Service providers are flooding networks with no incentive” to cut costs, France Telecom Chief Executive Officer Stephane Richard said last month. “It’s necessary to put in place a system of payments by service providers as a function of their use.”
