How to Setup Airprint on Ubuntu 11.10 Desktop
In Ubuntu 11.10, setting up AirPrint is easy.
1. Have a Standard install of Ubuntu Desktop 11.10 32-bit. I my case it was running under Windows 7 using Virtualbox.
2. Go into the CUPS interface and make sure “Share published printers connected to this system” is enabled on the server settings. Use Firefox for this browser as shown below:
3. The Print Server is the Ubuntu computer that is directly connected to the printers.
4. On the server machine (the one the printer is attached to), open System -> Administration -> Printing. This will open the Printer Configuration window. OR you can open the following URL in your browser: http://localhost:631
5. Select Server in the menu bar, and then Settings. This will open the Basic Server Settings window.
6. Check the second box:
- Publish shared printers connected to this server
7. If this computer acts as both a Print Server and a client (it does need access to a printer connected to another computer), select also the first box, “Show printers shared by other systems”.
8. OK.
9. Right click the printer and check the Shared option, if not checked yet.
10. On the Printer Properties, make sure the Shared checkbox is check on the Policies tab.
11. If you have a firewall running, make sure you allow the needed ports (one of the is port 631). I didn’t need to do this on my default install.
12. Restart CUPS “/etc/init.d/cups restart” or reboot the computer, this is done automatically when you save changes in the GUI admin for CUPS that you use Firefox to Access.
13. Make sure your iPhone/iPad is on the same network.
14. On your iPhone/iPad, go into Safari or email and, print, and search for printers. Your new printer should be in there.

Simple Mobile iPhone MMS Settings For iOS 5
These are the settings you need to get MMS working on your iPhone running iOS 5.0 and above. There are 2 ways to get MMS working on your Simple Mobile iPhone. The first requires you to jailbreak. This is the easiest way.
1. Add our Cydia repo to find the iPhone MMS Fix for Simple Mobile.
Our Repo is http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/
Once you install the fix you will need to reboot your phone and go into settings->general->network and make sure the APN is correct.
The settings should look like this:
Apn: simple
Mmsc: http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Mms proxy: 216.155.165.050
Mms max: 1048576
Mms ua prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf
If you are using the $40 TalkTextILD plan, you cannot use MMS as a data plan is required. When your current plan expires, upgrade your plan to one of the data capable plans – 50MB or 150MB – that Simple Mobile offers.
2. If you are unable to jailbreak and/or have a factory unlocked iPhone you can use iBackupBot which allows you to modify files on your iPhone without jailbreaking.
1. First things first. Make a full backup of your iPhone in iTunes.
2. Download the program iBackupBot. Make sure to select Mac or Windows. You may use the free trial, but it is best to purchase!
3. Launch iBackupBot and just hit OK to all of the messages that may pop up. It may take a while to load all the device information if you have multiple backups saved on your computer.
4. Once loaded you will want to find your most recent backup on the left had side and select it.
5. Next you will see a list of files show up in the righthand box. Scroll down until you see Library/Preferences/com.apple.mms_override.plist.

6. Double click on the mms override.plist and it will pop up a box to edit the file.
7. Download this com.apple.mms_override.plist and paste the contents into the box or manually write it out. It should looks similar to the picture below which is for T-Mobile. Simple Mobile’s will look a bit different. The MMSC string should be http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc

8. Now put a checkmark in the box next to Library/Preferences/com.apple.mms_override.plist and then click on File at the top and select restore.
9. iBackupBot will restore this new edited file onto your iPhone.
10. I will make a video Tutorial soon.

T-Mobile MMS Settings For iOS 5
The MMS settings for T-Mobile on iOS 5 are the exact same as iOS 4. Currently the easiest way to get MMS working on tmobile is to jailbreak and install the fix from our repo.
Now what happens if you have an unlocked iPhone 4S running on T-Mobile like I do? Well, right now there is no way to jailbreak the iPhone 4S and so you can’t get MMS working. Don’t worry, LEI Mobile has your back. If you have a factory unlocked iPhone and DO NOT want to Jailbreak or cant’t Jailbreak but want MMS settings for T-Mobile I have a solution.
First off here are the correct MMS settings for T-Mobile on iOS 5.
Jailbreaking Required Settings:
Please add our Cydia repo to find the iPhone MMS Fix for T-Mobile.
Our Repo is http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/
To install our repository you will open up Cydia. Click on Manage at the bottom. Click On Edit in the top right. Click Add in the top left. Type http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/ and then press Add Source. Then Click on the LEI Mobile source and install the T-Mobile MMS Fix or the Simple Mobile MMS Fix if you have Simple Mobile.
Once you install the fix you will need to reboot your phone and go into Settings->General->Network-> Cellular Data Network and make sure the APN is correct for both your data APN and your MMS APN. All other settings should be filled in. Depending on your plan you may have different settings. If you don’t know the correct settings try them all. The most common is epc.tmobile.com and wap.voicestream.com. Others include internet2.voicestream.com and internet3.voicestream.com
Here is a video to help out:
Now if you have a factory unlocked iPhone and do not want to jailbreak to get MMS working on T-Mobile you can do some tweaking to your backup files.

7. Download this com.apple.mms_override.plist (mirror link here) and paste the contents into the box or manually write it out based on the picture below. Then Save and Close the file.

8. Now put a checkmark in the box next to Library/Preferences/com.apple.mms_override.plist and then click on File at the top and select restore.
9. iBackupBot will restore this new edited file onto your iPhone.
10. I will make a video Tutorial when I get back to the States in about a week.

How To Delete Photos From iCloud Photo Stream
So you turned iCloud on when you upgraded to iOS 5 and also switched on Photo Stream only to find some embarrassing pictures syncing to all of your devices including iPhoto. Now you want to delete that picture but cant figure out how? Currently Apple has no way of deleting a single photo. All you can do is delete all of your pictures from photo stream.
In order to delete a single photo one must log into their iTunes account at iCloud.com.
1. Click on your name in the upper right hand corner and it will bring up your account options.
2. Click On Advanced and you will see the Reset Photo Stream button. Clicking this button will remove all your Photo Stream photos from iCloud. Once removed, they cannot be recovered, but you can re-upload any photos you’d like to restore to your Photo Stream from a Mac or PC. It will not remove any photos that have already been downloaded to your iOS device or computer.
3. Now if you want to remove the photos from your devices you have to go to Settings -> iCloud -> Photo Stream and turn off Photo Stream and then turn it back on.
4. If you want to remove them from your Mac in iPhoto, you will need to go to preferences -> Photo Stream. Turn it off and then turn it back on.
5. If you want to remove them from a Windows PC, you can delete the photos from the default folder location: C:\Users\Apple\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream

How To Jailbreak iOS 5 On Windows Or Mac
First things first. Go to http://jailbrea.kr/ to determine if and how you can jailbreak. In this guide I will show you how to jailbreak an iPhone 4 running iOS 5 via Windows. This will be the same exact procedure on a Mac.
Please note that this is a tethered jailbreak. This means you will have to hook your iDevice up to the computer every time you reboot. Also note that this guide WILL NOT work for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. You will also need to make sure that you have iTunes 10.5 installed.
1. Download RedSn0w from the iPhone Dev Team: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/redsn0w-iOS5 You will want to choose Windows or Mac. The current version as of writing this is redsn0w_0.9.9b6
2. Open RedSn0w and click on Jailbreak and install Cydia.
3. You will then need to make sure your device is plugged in and powered off. Follow the onscreen instructions to put your iDevice into DFU mode.
4. A bunch of code and jailbreaking commands will flash on your screen and eventually your device will reboot.
5. You will notice a white icon that says Cydia. Since we have jailbroken the device we need to boot into tethered mode before Cydia will work. We also have to do these next steps anytime we reboot the device as this is a tethered jailbreak.
6. Hit back on RedSn0w if you still have it open or go into the Extras option.
7. From here you will see the following features:

8. Select just boot tethered right now.
9. You will need to turn your device off and plug it into the computer again and follow the instructions to get into DFU mode.
10. Once it sees you are in DFU mode, RedSn0w will run some code and boot your iDevice in a jailbroken state. Congratulations you have jailbroken iOS 5!

Apple Selling Unlocked iPhone 4S’s Early. This Is How You can Get It.
Apple released the iPhone 4S on October 14th, 2011 in the US, but only allowed phones to be sold on contract. These phones sold on contract are sold at a discounted price ($199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB) and locked to the specific carrier.
Supposedly Sprint’s iPhone 4S is GSM unlocked buy they are going to lock it down. This has yet to be verified. We are waiting for Alan to give us confirmation. Verizon’s iPhone 4S comes locked but you can request an unlock after you have been in good standing for 60 days. Lastly AT&T’s iPhone 4S comes locked if you purchase it at the subsidized price. If you pay the full retail price which is also a non commitment or no contract iPhone 4S you will receive an officially unlocked iPhone 4S.
The best way to make sure that you get a factory unlocked iPhone 4S before Apple’s official release sometime in November is to follow these steps.
1. Go to the Apple Store and ask for a no contract iPhone 4S. An AT&T model. I told them that it was a gift for my brother and did not want to extend his contract.
2. They will then sell you the iPhone 4S at full retail price ($645 for 16GB, $745 for 32GB, and $845 for 64GB).
3. Before you turn the iPhone 4S on make sure to swap the included AT&T sim card with a different sim. I used T-Mobile USA.
4. Plug the iPhone 4S into your computer and open iTunes 10.5+.
5. Go through the setup without selecting wifi, and click connect to iTunes.
6. iTunes will then go through the setup process and you will get the message Congratulations. Your iPhone is Unlocked.
Here is a video of my process. Sorry there is currently no sound. I will try and re-upload it later.
