Review: Guest List Organizer

Guest List Organizer, developed by Denys Yevenko, is a simple and easy to use guest list manager for organizing events. The application is perfect for managing a wedding guest list, birthday party, or any other even where you need an accurate head count of confirmed guests.

Guest List Organizers allows you to import your Facebook friends, Address book contacts, guests from other events, and the ability to create new guest right on the fly. Once you have your guest list in place you can select on an individual person and see a ton of information about them. If you have information filled in like their phone number, email, address, and picture, you can easily view and edit that info. You also have the ability to manage +1 guests that they are bringing.

Some other really great features include the ability to create reports. There are a ton of different reports that you can run. They will save via iCloud and you can share them via e-mail, Dropbox, or Evernote. The application also has the ability to print using Apple’s AirPrint service.

No longer will greeters have to hold pen and paper. Just give them and iPad and they can quickly check of guests who attend. Overall Guest List Organizer is a very well done application. I wish we would have used this application to manage our wedding guest list. It would of made it so much easier. I will definitely recommend this app to anyone who needs to manage of list of guests. It would be nice if the developers created a universal app so you do not have to buy twice if you want it on your iPhone and iPad. Right now Guest List Organizer is on sale for 66% off to celebrate the iPhone release of the app. Check it out on the App Store today.

Review: iCookbook

Do you need a little help in the kitchen? Ran out of ideas for dinner, or just need some new recipes to try? Check out the application called iCookbook. It is available as a universal app so it works on the iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch. iCookbook was developed by Publications International, Ltd. and is currently priced at $4.99.

iCookbook features over 2000 recipes and is updated monthly with more recipes for FREE, but if you want to get even more out of the app you can check out their built in store. It offers premium content starting at $0.99. Now that is not just one recipe. It is a whole new cookbook. You will get somewhere around 25 to 30 additional themed recipes like Summer Appetizers, Mexican Party Foods, and Brunchtime Best.

iCookbook also offers a recipe box where you can add your favorite recipes from the ones included or you can manually input your own. You can explore all of the recipes and sort them by rating (your rating or other iCookbook users), Dish, Ingredient, Theme, Cuisine, Occasion, or Brand. You can even get a random set of recipes if your into trying something random.

iCookbook also includes a ton of tools that are very handy. These tools include: Conversions, Substitutions, a Shopping List, and a built in timer. The shopping list is a huge time saver. So you decide on a meal but do not have the ingredients? Just hit add to shopping list and it will add all of the ingredients to your shopping list. No more having to manually write them out on a sheet of paper. iCookbook makes it super easy. You can easily share recipes via email, Facebook, and even print them using Apple’s AirPrint.

One of the coolest features incorporated into the app is Voice Commands. You can use the app completely hands-free. Now you can proceed through the preparation steps without touching the iPad or iPhone screen. Just speak the simple commands to move to the next step, manage timers, view notes [iPad only], and more.

Overall iCookbook is beautiful app and everything is laid out very well. No wonder it was named the best of the iPad Lifestyle category in App Store Rewind 2011 in the US. This app has the capability of being your one stop shop in the kitchen. There are so many features built in to this app and they are constantly updating it with more recipes and features. Priced less than many cookbooks, this app is definitely worth the price they charge. Check out iCookbook on the Apple App Store today!

[Nonsense] Apple Rejects Apps Using Dropbox

Apple has taken obsess with their rules a bit too far this time. Apple is now rejecting that use Dropbox as a service because in some circumstances a user may be able to “purchase” storage with Dropbox through the app and bypass the In-App Purchase model.

Most apps rejected are given the following reason:

“Reason for rejection is the fact that if the user does not have Dropbox application installed then the linking authorization is done through Safari (as per latest SDK).

Once the user is in Safari it is possible for the user to click “Desktop version” and navigate to a place on Dropbox site where it is possible to purchase additional space.”

You know all those crappy apps that got on the AppStore due to lazy people in the review process? Well here’s the complete opposite, they took their time to dig through the app beyond where a normal user would care to go, just to find something wrong.

Dropbox has released an SDK update to help deal with this current dilemma, but Apple has already shown what kind of game they want to play.
