Who can downgrade?

Hey guys, the Dev-Team has began updates since iOS 6 went public moments ago and here’s what’s new.

 

“A few months back we released a redsn0w feature that lets you downgrade A5+ devices from 5.1.1 to anything lower (if you had saved blobs).  Unfortunately once the 5.1.1 window closes, *redsn0w’s 5.x downgrade feature will no longer work.*  Most A5 users will not be able to downgrade.  So if you’re an A5+ owner up at 6.0 when the 5.1.1 window closes, you’ll be stuck there without a jailbreak for now.” –Dev-Team Blog

 

Who can actually downgrade:

  1. A4 devices and 3GS will always be downgradable (and jailbreakable) due to limera1n.  The tethered iOS6 jailbreak for those devices (and untethered for old-bootrom 3GS) will be out when Cydia and other important pieces are all working properly.
  2. iPad2 owners who have both 4.x blobs and 5.x blobs will always be able to downgrade to those versions, even once you come up to 6.0 and the 5.1.1 window closes (don’t do that yet though!).  You need both 4.x and 5.x blobs to qualify for the downgrade even if you only wish to downgrade to 5.x
  3. iPad3, i4S (and iPad2 owners who don’t satisfy #2) will always be able to RE-restore the current 5.x OS that’s already on their device.  So if you’re at 5.1.1 when the window closes (and you’ve saved your blobs), you’ll always be able to RE-restore to 5.1.1 again.  This makes the 5.1.1 jailbreak a lot less fragile — you don’t have to worry about messing up your install with funky extensions or getting into a boot loop, because you can always RE-restore from 5.1.1 to 5.1.1 again (or from 5.0.1 to 5.0.1 again, etc).  But once you fall off the 5.x train by restoring to 6.x, you’ll be stuck there until the next jailbreak.
A new version of redsn0w will be released shortly to allow these types of downgrades. (A link will be posted at the top later)
Baseband Warning: RE-restores and iPad 2 downgrades will always end up with the latest baseband being installed. Stay very far away from any of this is you rely on an unlock

iOS 6 Due Tomorrow

Hey guys, it’s that time of year again. Apple is set to release iOS 6 to the public tomorrow (Wednesday, Sep 9th, 2012) and as usual it’s time for the warnings ^_^

Reasons to stay away from iOS 6:

  • If you enjoy your current untethered jailbreak.
  • If you have a later generation device (iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3) cannot be downgraded from iOS 6 as of yet
  • If you rely on a software unlock like ultrasn0w. The 4S currently cannot prevent a baseband update.
  • If you like using Google Maps or the YouTube Apps. Those are gone in leu of Apple Maps and Google’s new YouTube app (gross)

Reasons to upgrade to iOS 6:

  • If you have a device susceptible to limera1n for a tethered jailbreak OR downgrading.
  • If any new features interest you. (That you can’t have by jailbreak means, comment them?)
  • You don’t care about jailbreaking. (Wait… WHAT!?!?)

 

I have to admit I’m a tad bias against this update, but most people who care about jailbreaking are too, and with the difficulty involved lately in getting user jailbreaks out, the feature set in iOS 6 is very diminished.

 

PS: Grab you SHSH blobs for 5.1.1 while you can. Apple will probably stop signing them by Friday. (Except for the iPad 1 since 5.1.1 is its last update)

Everything You Need To Know About The iPhone 5

It is official. The iPhone 5 is here. Apple has just announced the iPhone 5 and will be taking preorders on Friday the 14th of September. The iPhone 5 is scheduled to be released in stores on September 21st. This is going to be one of the biggest product launches of the year so if you are looking to get your hands on an iPhone 5 on launch day you better preorder one. As you can see from the information below. The iPhone 5 is everything we expected from all of the leaks.

What are the biggest features of the iPhone 5?

  • Larger Screen: 326ppi Redina Display, Four-inches. 1136×640 resolution. Same width, but taller. Screen allows for another row of apps.
  • 18% Thinner: 7.6mm thick.
  • 20% Lighter: weights 112 grams.
  • All New A6 Processor: 2X faster CPU and 2x graphics. Pages is said to launch 2.1X faster than before. Keynote attachments load 1.7X faster.
  • Supports LTE:  LTE stands for Long Term Evolution and is true 4G. Most of the wireless carriers are calling their data 4G, but it does not offer true 4G speeds. The iPad 3 currently supports LTE, while the iPhone 4S does not. The iPhone 4S supports HSPA+ which is just a speedier 3G technology yet AT&T calls it 4G. HSPA+ is 21Mbps, DC-HSDPA is 42Mbps, and LTE is a max of 100.
  • Battery Life: Matches or exceeds the iPhone 4S - 8 hours of 3G or LTE talk time or browsing. 10 hours on WiFi browsing.
  • Camera: 8MP 3,264 x 2,448 backside-illuminated sensor, five-element lens and f/2.4 aperture. Same as the iPhone 4S but thinner. Offers better low-light performance. Offers 40% faster image capture.
  • New photo feature: Panorama - It’s a 28 megapixel resulting image! In real-time, it takes parts of photos and stitches them together. Uses image stabilization, and removes duped people
  • New Video features: Take photos while recording, FaceTime over cellular networks. Front Camera is now 720p HD.
  • 3 microphones: Offers enhanced audio and improved voice recognition and noise cancelation.
  • New Dock Connector:  The new 9pin mini dock connector replaces the old style to save space and offer faster speeds. Called “Lightning”. It is thinner and more durable. It is also double-sided. There will be adapters available.
  • Runs iOS 6

Anonymous Takes Down Godaddy & Millions Of Sites With It

The famous hacker Anonymous just took claim to Godaddy’s downtime. There are millions of website affected all over the world. The company that runs LEI Mobile has domains purchased from GoDaddy but luckily they are not hosted there. It is September 11th in parts of the world and this is an attack on the internet that many will remember.

GoDaddy was a target because they supported SOPA. SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act. A few months ago millions of users boycotted GoDaddy and now the hacker group has unleashed punishment on those who are still supporting GoDaddy.

 

A member of Anonymous known as AnonymousOwn3ris claiming responsibility, and makes it clear this is not an Anonymous collective action.

AnonymousOwn3r’s bio reads “Security leader of #Anonymous (~Official member~).” The individual claims to be from Brazil, and hasn’t issued a statement as to why GoDaddy was targeted.

iPhone 5 Boot Up Video

It appears someone has gotten their hands on an iPhone 5 prototype from the Foxconn factory in Jincheng. The tipster stated that it has a larger screen and feels thinner. Here is a video of it booting up but does not boot into iOS 6 as it has not been registered yet. Do you think this video is fake?
